Hey you! Welcome to my online journal. • In 2020, I graduated from The University of Manchester with some pretty good grades, haha, but what stood out was my dissertation grade, where I earned a high distinction. At the time though, I had no idea that I had performed fairly well. I just wanted to pass, because I had just moved out, travelled, lost all my motivation due to Covid and just MAJORLY procrastinated. No, for real, I hadn't even written my conclusion till that morning. • On 7th September 2020, I decided to document one small and final part of my dissertation as well as my masters itself, because it was a massive moment of my academic life come to an end. Months of hard work, sleepless nights and worry, all while being in lockdown, had finally come to a stop. There's nothing else in this video, just a lot of me talking, pouring my thoughts out to this video journal, and roaming around on a rainy day in Manchester - typical. • If you're curious about what my dissertation was about, let me tell you! • My thesis was called Understanding the psychological effects of slow-motion in advertisements , a thesis that was derived from my Bachelor's specialization in Advertising and my Master's specialization in Consumer behaviour - a perfect mix of both. • The effects of Speed x Appeal were tested on construal level, recall, emotional stimulation, informativeness, advertisement and brand liking. Results acquired through ANOVA, Regression models and Mediation analysis indicate that regardless of the appeal, slow-motion has a significant effect on both advertisement liking and brand liking through increased emotional stimulation. • This project makes me want to get into research and pursue a PhD and I hope I do get to go back to uni one day.
