The Holbeck Hall Hotel was built in 1879 and was initially a private residence which was later converted into a hotel. This hotel stood proudly as a clifftop hotel in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, until a landslide occurred which caused the hotel, along with 1 million tonnes of earth, sliding into the North Sea. The Holbeck Hall Hotel Disaster occurred during 3 days in the June of 1993 which eventually caused the destruction of this fabulous building. • This spectacle caught the attention of the World’s press and journalists from across the globe came to Scarborough to report on the event. However, it was Yorkshire TV’s Calendar programme which managed to successfully capture the chimney stack and parts of the building crumble down the side of the clifftop live on television. The late legendary presenter, Richard Whiteley, was standing in front of the Holbeck Hall live on camera when this happened. • In this video, I thought it would be a good idea to revisit the site of where the Holbeck Hall Hotel landslide occurred and see what can be seen in this location today in 2021. I used my DJI Mavic Mini Drone to gain a bird’s eye view of the area. The views are stunning and the view into Scarborough itself is breathtaking! • I hope you enjoy the video and thank you all for taking the time to watch. • #scarborough #holbeckhall #naturaldisaster #naturaldisasters #disaster #landslide #landslides #northyorkshire #drone #dronefootage
