http://www.preventivefire.com • Hood suppression system drawings – why do we have them? • The first line of defense against fire in a kitchen is the fire protection system installed in the hood. A hood suppression system uses a wet chemical to suppress fires and are usually automatic and pre-engineered to work with the hoods, ducts, filters and cooking equipment. • At Preventive Fire and Safety, we design a hood suppression drawing that is considered a blueprint that will be submitted to an inspector or code enforcer. The hood suppression drawings can begin with a simple hand-drawn design and then are placed into a CAD design program and finished with great detail. Each drawing must follow federal and state code requirements for placement of ducts, vents, piping appliances and fire safety equipment. Once the drawings are complete they are submitted to a Fire Plan Review or code inspector and will be checked full compliance. When the drawings receive approval, the system can be installed or repaired. Fire Safety technicians can install the appropriate fire safety equipment into the hoods.
