In this video, we’re going to show you how to make a wallet-sized Zipper Pouch Kit. • Shop This Kit Here: • https://ripstopbytheroll.com/products... • • What you’ll need to complete this kit is… • The standard DIYers tool kit • And all the pieces from your Zip Wallet Kit • Being fabric, zipper coils, slider, slider pull, and grosgrain • Step 1: Attach Zipper Tape • First, we’re going to attach the zipper. The way we’ll do that for this kit is by laying the face of the zipper to the face of the fabric, and stitching that down. • Step 2: Top Stitch Zipper • Now that the zipper is attached, we’re going to flip the zipper out and run a top stitch to add a nice finishing touch • Both sides of the zipper will be done the same way. • Step 3: Flip + Add Sliders • We’re going to turn this inside out and add the zipper sliders. The sliders help keep the wallet together when we stitch the sides. • Step 4: Attach Pull Tabs • Now we’re going to add the pull tabs. You’ll use the grosgrain that came in your kit to make these tabs. You can choose how long you want the pull tab to be. I like it to stick out about 1.25” so ill cut these at 1.5”. • To attach the pull tabs, you'll put the loop of the tab inside the wallet, with the raw edge sticking out ever so slightly. Then you’ll run a few stitches back and forth over the tab to solidify its place. • Something to think about while you're sewing is the seam allowance. You don't want these stitches to stick out when you sew the sides together. With that in mind, I’m going to sew these at ⅛ of an inch and use the standard ¼ for my seam allowance for the sides. • I recommend putting a pull tab on both sides of the zipper. We’ll do that now • Step 5: Sew Sides Closed • We’re onto the final stitch which is going to be sewing the sides closed. • Remember to close the sides using the ¼ seam allowance. You can also go back and forth over the pull tab for added reinforcement. • Step 6: Hitch Slider Pull • Onto the finishing touches. We’ll flip this guy inside out, and add the slider pull. • There are many ways you can finish a zipper. We included slider pulls for you to use, but you can also use shock cord, static cord, fabric pieces, grow grain, and many other things. • In this case, we’ll girth hitch the slider pull to the slider tab. • Finishing: • Congratulations on your new zip wallet. • These are a great step in the DIY Journey. • Making your own gear is awesome and really rewarding. If you liked making the wallet, then the next step would be to make a ZPP kit.
