Short video introducing myself and my work. My name is Katie Numi Usher and I am a visual artist, writer and curator from Belize, Central America. Belize is an English-speaking country in Latin America because of British colonialism. So while we are located in Hispanophone Central America, we are more culturally similar to the British Caribbean. The work I do is deeply influenced by my experience as a Black woman in Latin America, also by responding to the shock of seeing Memín Pinguín when I studied art in Mérida, Yucatán, México. #belize #art #centralamerica #caribbean
