Kewal (Raj Kapoor) walks out of his father's home and starts his own theatre troupe with help from Rajan, (Prem Nath) an art lover, after failing in his law exams. Kewal searches for his childhood love Nimmi, who used to perform with him in his childhood in every woman he meets. He goes to extent of renaming his co-artists as Nimmi. Kewal's face gets disfigured in an accident and he is despised by one and all.
