Their lives are controlled by Ruby's abusive stepfather, a former hunter hired by her grandfather. An intrusive Preacher further complicates their existence. When two unexpected outsiders arrive, a police officer and an enigmatic figure, tensions rise and secrets unravel. Magical and mysterious events follow, all centered around the curse of a small turtle, leading to a showdown between peace and destruction on the disputed land. • (About) The movie expresses a fairy-tale like narrative with many levels of political and historic subtexts. It travels around themes of war, love, refugees, capitalism and eco-fascism.
