Freddie Northcotte, band leader of the famous Newfoundland band, BAY BOYS, succumbed to cancer in St. Catherine's, Ontario on St. Patrick's day, March 17, 2010 at the age of 72. He was born in Coppett, Newfoundland on July 16, 1938, and He founded the Bay Boys around 1970.
