But every so often, a relic from the past comes on that reminds us of a time long past. Perhaps its a Limp Bizkit song, or one from Korn's 90's output, maybe even Wait and Bleed from Slipknot...either way, it reminds us of a time when nu-metal was the king of the American metal mountain. Sure, to most of us in the Nation, it may seem like a false crown worn by pale fakes, bands that didn't truly hold the metal hammer high, but instead simplified the idea to profit majorly on the concept of heavier music on the radio, but that's what leads to the question: just how relevant was nu-metal? Is it a part of the metal timeline that does more than just link it together, or is there more influence and culture arguments that can be made to display its unique place in heavy metal history? Time to talk about it, folks, and if you're expecting blind rage, hate, and opinion on the music itself, instead of the genre as a whole, this may not be for you.
