Fatal I17 Motorcycle Crash

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 8-11-2024 | 9:08 PM • LOCATION: I-17 Southbound Indian School Road • AREA/CITY: Phoenix • DETAILS: • Shortly after 9 PM Sunday evening, DPS responded to reports of a motorcyclist who had been run over on the I-17 in the southbound lanes of travel, just North of Indian School Road. • Troopers arrived with Phoenix Fire and established a closure on the I-17 at Camelback Road. • Firefighters quickly pronounced the biker deceased. • Following the crash, a second collision happened behind the motorcycle involving several vehicles. • At least one of the drivers from the secondary collision was transported to a local area hospital with injuries. • According to DPS radio traffic: • Several witnesses stated the motorcyclist was driving at a high rate of speed next to two sports cars before falling onto the interstate where they were then run over by another vehicle. • Neither of the sports vehicles remained on scene. • The I-17 southbound is expected to remain closed for several hours as Troopers work to investigate the incident. • Injured?
