In 1976 Robert Altman’s unofficial protégé Alan Rudolph directed this knowing dissection of Angelenos with an appropriately Altmanesque cast including Keith Carradine (in a near reprisal of his womanizing turn in Nashville), Sally Kellerman and Sissy Spacek (whose break-out role as Carrie was the same year).
