She was a builder of bridges between China and the rest of the world, says Edgar Walsh of his mother, Pearl S. Buck. • In this mini-documentary, Walsh describes how his mother was ideally positioned to write about China. Buck was the daughter of missionaries and spent much of the first half of her life in China, where many of her books are set. • After she survived the violent Nanking Incident of 1927, Buck began to write seriously. Her second novel, The Good Earth, became a bestselling classic for its portrait of a farmer's journey through China in the 1920s. • Watch this video to learn more about Buck's unique life, which she drew on for her Nobel Prize-winning body of work. • Learn more at: http://www.openroadmedia.com/authors/...
