Live freshwater shrimp (sometimes called freshwater prawns) are, in my opinion, one of the best fishing baits that we have here in freshwater Victoria. The cod, yellowbelly and redfin all love them and this video demonstrates just that. • Where I come from in North East Victoria they are commonly called shrimp, or freshwater shrimp. The same species in other parts of Australia are sometimes called freshwater prawns.
