A wheel demonstrating a cycloid (green), a superior trochoid (red) and an inferior trochoid (blue). • The cycloid is formed by the green line as it traces a point on the wheel's circumference while it is rotating for one whole revolution. • A superior trochoid is formed by the red line as it traces a point fixed OUTSIDE the same wheel's circumference. • An inferior trochoid is formed by the blue line as it traces a point INSIDE the wheel's circumference. • To see the wheel making three turns and the loci formed please view my other video: • • Cycloid and Trochoids 3 turns • To see the same wheel forming only the locus of a cycloid (without inferior and superior trochoids) please view: • • Cycloid 1 turn
