Sunbirds are small, brightly coloured birds with bills that are curved downwards and they also have tubular tongues. These adaptations allow them to reach into flowers to access the nectar. As they fly from one flower to another, they also help to pollinate the flowers that they visit. • The brown-throated and olive-backed sunbirds are more common in Singapore. One simple way to tell these two sunbirds apart is to look at their throats. For the male brown-throated sunbird, the throat is brown and parts of its wings are luminous blue. For the male olive-back sunbird, the throat and it’s breast and forehead are luminous blue. • Both the female sunbirds have olive-green upper parts and yellow under parts. However, the brown-throated sunbird has red iris with broken yellow eyering, while the olive-backed sunbird’s iris is black. • #HnK_SGBirds #ForNatureForFuture #CityInNature #SGBirds #BirdsInSingapore #Birding #sunbird #brownthroatedsunbird #olivebackedsunbird #TogetherForNatureForFuture #nature #birdwatching #birdingphotography • Video recording and production were done using Apple iPhone XS Max.
