Technology is neither good nor bad. It depends on how you use it and as I (Phil Svitek) note, too often creatives shy away from it. Their ambitions often times suffer because of it. It can take longer to accomplish something if at all. By learning technology, an artist can be liberated and achieve their greatest dreams. Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez is a strong advocate of learning technology as a means to enhance projects. Technology, when used right, is empowering. You don’t have to rely on others for help. You can do it yourself. In this lesson, I showcase the importance technology can play in your creative endeavours as well as pointing you in the right direction of places to learn more. Such examples include YouTube tutorials, Lynda.com, Skillshare.com, the magazine racks at a bookstore like Barnes and Noble, the library, trade shows and most importantly just a simple internet search. I also encourage a networking group of like-minded people for you to connect with in order to learn from each other especially in this rapidly changing landscape.
