We recently added an Oriental Weather Loach, also known as a Dojo Loach, to our tank, and we're excited to share the step-by-step acclimation process with you! 🐠 This unique, friendly fish has some interesting traits and makes a great addition to any cold water setup. • Steps to Acclimate Your New Fish: • Float the Bag: Start by floating the fish bag in the tank for 15-20 minutes to match the water temperature. • Add Tank Water Gradually: Slowly add small amounts of tank water into the bag every 5 minutes for 15-20 minutes to help the fish adjust to its new environment. • Release the Fish: Once acclimated, gently release the fish into the tank using a net, discarding the water in the bag to avoid contaminating the tank. • About the Dojo Loach: • The Oriental Weather Loach, or Dojo Loach, is a peaceful bottom-dwelling fish that can grow up to 12 inches. Known for its ability to predict changes in weather (hence the name weather loach ), it becomes more active during drops in barometric pressure.
