The duck hunting up in Alaska right now is as good as I've seen it and this afternoon hunt was one for the books! I had the perfect combination of strong winds and a very high tide which sent the birds looking for sheltered areas with calm water. I had a tiny slough in mind that setup perfect for the wind and sure enough, when we walked in it was loaded with a mixed bag of mallards, wigeon, and teal. We got setup quick and within a few minutes the ducks were dumping back into my spread, making for some great decoying action and close range shots.
