Chuck North and Johnnie Thompson on a short kayaking run on Alsea Bay. Launching from Port of Alsea in Waldport, Oregon, we were surrounded by sea lions as we approach Alsea Bay Bridge. The water was unusually calm; like glass that evening on December 30th, 2010. Chuck was on an Emotion Grand Slam 14.5 fishing kayak. Johnnie was on an Ocean Kayak Prowler 13. We were in slack low tide on a windless evening. Launching at 3:30 and on the water for about 20 minutes.
