Cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen is used to destroy precancerous scalp lesions called actinic keratosis. • The liquid nitrogen freezes the tissue on contact, causing frostbite. The tissue thaws and a blister forms in the days following the treatment. As the skin heals it will have slightly lighter tone compared to the surrounding skin. These lesions sometimes change to squamous cell carcinoma over time. They can also be treated with repeated applications of a topical chemotherapy cream. • New videos are posted on Friday. • • This video is not intended to diagnose or treat any condition.
