My August spending and saving is in! I track all of these numbers in my Personal Finance Tracker, available for $15 in my bio link! • August got a tad spending mostly due to travel, but I am A-ok with that as it’s one of my larger values and I plan for it year-round with contributions to my travel savings buckets. That way, I can pull from the savings instead of stress about how to fit the spending into my regular monthly cashflow. Because of this, I was able to hit my saving and investing goals and stay on budget overall. • I tend to move budget categories around throughout the month based on actual spending in my “wants” categories, but as long as I stay on budget overall and don’t dip into savings or investments or go into debt, I’m happy! • Here’s some context for a few standout items: • •HOME COSTS - this number is usually very low because I don’t currently have any rent or mortgage payments. Our current housing is $3000/month, but we house hack so our tenant pays $1300 of that. The remaining $1700 is paid by my partner because we split our expenses equitably and he makes significantly more than I do and is in a better overall financial position. • •SHOPPING - I stocked up on some new clothing and items for upcoming travel (new Lulu sweater (new Lulu sweater, airtags, umbrellas, compression socks (lol)). • •BEAUTY - I don’t often spend in this category but Lancome had a 25% off sale and Rakuten was offering a 10% cashback offer and I needed new foundation and some skincare. • •TRAVEL - this was mostly the remainder of my LA trip (food and transportation) and some remaining costs for the Nelson trip. • I’m hoping to invest another $3k for September - check back next month to see if I can stay on track! • I’ve been tracking my income and expenses every month since 2016 and I love it! It’s so helpful to see where my money is going and it’s a great reflection exercise to help me make more intentional spending choices in the future. • Do you track your spending? I encourage you to join me! • #augustspending #budgetingtips #moneytalks #moneyinstagram #intentionalspending #personalfinance #canadianfinancetips #spendingsummary #expensestracker #budgetlife #moneyhabits
