This video is protected by copyright and IP laws and Navien reserves all rights herein. • NPN-E Outdoor Recess Box • Innovation by Design • The Navien NPN-E unit, or our exterior unit, is available to be installed in an outdoor application in mild climates. When installing that E unit, we offer the outdoor recess box, which provides an approved outdoor metal enclosure for that NPN-E series water heater, which is installed into an outside wall and conceals the unit from plain view. The box is made from galvanized steel, and it protects the water heater from exposure to inclement weather and extreme wind conditions. • The recess box requires some light assembly and allows for easy installation with prefabricated louvers for both the exhaust and combustion air. The box features a louvered front panel that can be easily removed for service and maintenance and is available in white to match the water heater finish. The recess box also comes with an attached lock ring for added security. • Please note this accessory is designed and approved for outdoor use only with the NPN-E style unit our exterior unit, and should never be used for the storage of household items. • So, the design of the recess box allows for mounting in between 16-inch studs, recessing both the box and the water heater back into an enclosure. The front panel that comes with the recess box is easily removed by lifting up and pulling away from the cover. The recess box cover includes louvers for the combustion air intake. Also, it includes the exhaust outlet that matches up directly to the NPN-E style unit. To remove the cover, we can lift up on the cover and simply pull it away from E Unit. • Inside the recess box there are mounting points at the top and the bottom to match up directly to the mounting brackets on the NPN-E units. Also included with the recess box is the hardware kit which provides a locking point for the front cover, just adds more security to the installation preventing someone from coming along and removing the cover when it's not required. • There are some requirements when installing the NPN-E recess box, including planning a little bit when we're doing the framing so that the recess box has a place to go. Also, when installing the utilities such as the gas and the water, they can be brought in through the back of the box or through the sides if the space allows. • So, when installing the NPN-E exterior unit in mild climates, to help protect that unit Navien offers the recess box accessory to go along with that product. • If you have any questions about the recess box, please refer to the installation manual that comes with it or you can check the installation manual that comes with the NPN water heaters. • Thanks for watching.
