Healthcare provider Omni Family Health suffers major data breach exposing sensitive patient records. • On August 7th 2024, OFH discovered they had fallen victim to a cyber attack after noticing strange activity on their internal IT networks. What initially seemed like just another cyber incident was about to blow up into one of the largest healthcare data breaches in recent years. • Through a lengthy forensic investigation, OFH revealed that sensitive personal and medical records of thousands of their patients and employees had likely been accessed and stolen in the cyber attack. • OFH first noticed issues with their systems in early August, but what they didn't realize was this attack may have actually begun as far back as February 2024. That's when the hackers were first able to breach OFH's networks and patient databases. • They then laid dormant for months, undetected. In February the hackers managed to take OFH's entire IT infrastructure offline for nearly a week. This should have been a major red flag but somehow the breach went undiscovered.
