Let's dye some yarn with coffee! This video has been a popular request and I decided to brew up some coffee dyed yarn with a bit of a twist. I used some cotton thread to bind up a portion of the yarn to see if I could help the area resist absorbing any color. In this video, I dyed 100g of 75% superwash merino/25% nylon Stroll Fingering weight yarn http://shrsl.com/qmm9 and 100 g of 100% wool Wool of the Andes worsted weight yarn http://shrsl.com/qmm8 (KnitPicks affiliate links). • This video is sponsored by Elizabeth Theresa. Thank you so much for your support! • Sometimes thinks work as expected, other times things don't make a huge difference. I think that this resist binding technique would be a lot cooler with a dye like food coloring or other acid dyes that bind to the yarn quickly, versus something like coffee which binds more slowly. • VIDEO CONTENTS: • [0:00] Introduction and brewing the coffee • [1:00] The yarn, and binding up some of it for resist dyeing • [3:41] Setting up the dyebath • [4:27] Adding the dry yarns to the coffee • [5:58] Adding some more water and turning on the heat.
