Originally Released: June 15th, 2012 • ------------------------------------------ • Populous was the progenitor of the God Game concept, where instead of controlling minions directly, you instead influence them by shaping the land and performing miracles. It was a very unique concept in strategy gaming... and oddly enough, I never knew a single other person who could play it while I was growing up and it remains one of the extremely few strategy games I'm actually really good at. :B • ------------------------------------------ • Additional Information and Corrections: • Here's the link to the Good Old Games website if you want to obtain this game for yourself: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/populo... • The multiplayer mode is somewhat tricky to get working and to work with, though the GOG release has some shortcuts to let you use DOSBox's modem emulation features over the internet. One neat thing is that because the game plays virtually the same on every system, the DOS version of Populous can actually connect with other versions on other kinds of systems! • Later versions of the game would come with additional landscapes beyond the original four, though apparently there's an expansion to the original game that also does this.
