(13 Sep 1995) English/Nat • • Another potential problem looms at the OJ Simpson trial as the defence is seeking the ousting of a juror with a newly disclosed financial problem. • • The request followed a strong day for the prosecution who brought a former executive for the Aris Isotoner glove manufacturers back to the stand. • • Richard Rubin said gloves Simpson wore during a 1991 football broadcast were the same unique model police found soaked in blood following the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. • • Simpson waltzed into court Tuesday smiling but after the testimony put on by prosecutors that smile soon faded. • • With glove expert Richard Rubin on the stand, prosecutors again linked Simpson to blood-soaked gloves found at the crime scene and Simpson's home. • • Rubin inspected photos of Simpson at a 1991 football game and determined he was wearing a pair of brown 'Aris Lights' gloves with the distinctive Brasser stitching. • • It is the same stitching found on a glove discovered at the feet of Ronald Goldman and on a glove discovered at Simpson's Rockingham Estate. • • Rubin told jurors there was no doubt in his mind about his conclusions. • • SOUNDBITE: • Based on what I have seen I would say this is style 70263 size extra large brown because I measured the defendant's hand. • How certain are you of that? • I am 100 percent certain. • SUPER CAPTION: Richard Rubin, Glove Expert and Chris Darden, Prosecutor • • Rubin, who testified earlier in the trial, inspected numerous photos and videos of Simpson broadcasting for NBC. • • SOUNDBITE: • Are all the characteristics that you observed in the brown gloves of the defendant consistent with style 70263? • Yes. • SUPER CAPTION: Chris Darden, Prosecutor and Richard Rubin, Glove Expert • • Also on Tuesday, the prosecution surprisingly said it would rest its rebuttal case on Thursday. • • The defence didn't buy this and said they would put on more witnesses, starting on Thursday. • • SOUNDBITE: • We expect to rest before then. • If they are true to that I will ask Dean Uelmen to fly in Friday afternoon but as you said they are being overly optimistic. The court gave them until Friday, he said his materials are up there if they are moving along. If the court excludes any evidence in this case we will move it up but he needed until Friday. Besides we haven't rested anyone we will need until then because we will have witnesses for them on Thursday. • SUPER CAPTION: Marcia Clark, Prosecutor and Johnnie Cochran, Defence Lawyer. • • The next prosecution witness is scheduled to be DNA expert Gary Sims, who is expected to link Simpson and murder victim Ronald Goldman to a blood stain found in Simpson's Ford Bronco. • • But with possibly another juror down - time is running out for the prosecution to complete its rebuttal. • • Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork • Twitter: / ap_archive • Facebook: / aparchives • Instagram: / apnews • • • You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
