The cardiac cycle largely splits into three stages: heart diastole, atrial systole and ventricular systole. When the cardiac muscles contract, the chambers push the blood out of it and into another chamber or out of the heart, down the pressure gradient. This involves pushing the valves (at the exit of the chamber) open, while the previous valves (at the entrance of the chamber) would close to prevent the backflow of blood during the chamber contraction. • In this video, we will explore how the contractions of the heart chambers lead to pressure changes, which then leads to the opening/closing of valves to facilitate efficient blood flow down the pressure gradient. • Please like, share and subscribe for more content and comment below to let me know what you think! :) • Facebook: BioRach - A-level Biology Online •   / biorachproject   • Twitter: @BioRachProject • https://twitter.com/BioRachProject?la... • Background music: • Ambiment - The Ambient by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...) • Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-... • Artist: http://incompetech.com/
