My pet mice love their new home. I made a new house for them in a large plastic storage box. • To view more pictures of how I prepared a new home for my mice, please visit Check it out: https://petmousehouse.weebly.com/ • Cage is 1'4 wide x 2'6 long by 1' high. I cut an opening in the lid with a dremel tool rotary cutting blade about 2 wide on the narrow end of the lid and about 2 1/2 on the long side. For security at night I put a piece of screen that I framed with wood trim over the opening, primarily to keep the cat out as the mice cannot reach the opening from inside the cage. • The love it! I have four mice and one was getting quite large so I felt they needed a bit more room to run, and wow, can they ever run! • I put about 2 of 'fine safe straw' on the bottom that I get from the livestock supply store. Safe straw is cut, cleaned and almost dust free, and very soft. The mice like to burrow in it, and it is easy to clean. • I put up a small website showing what I put in the cage for toys, play structures and dens for them to play in an sleep in. Mice like a 'privy box' at one end of their quarters and will use it as a litter box. My 'girls' are pretty excited about their new home. They are busy exploring their new 'digs' and are quite excited about all the space they now have. • To view more pictures of how I prepared a new home for my mice, please visit Check it out: https://petmousehouse.weebly.com/
