Join us on our family day trip to the beautiful island of Marstrand, just a short ferry ride from Gothenburg, Sweden. With my little ones, we explore this charming island known for its rich history and stunning seaside views. • Marstrand, a favorite with visitors, is located where the archipelago ends and the open sea begins. The town was founded back in the 13th century by the Norwegian king Håkon Håkonsson1. It’s an ideal harbor, often ice-free and with mooring facilities regardless of the wind direction1. • Our day started with a scenic ferry ride across the strait, bringing us to Marstrand, an island with a vibrant presence from the past mixed with trendy sailing jackets1. The island is filled with cozy homes along car-free streets, top restaurants, and cafés1. • One of the highlights of our trip was enjoying fish and chips at a prime restaurant on the seashore. The food was delicious and the view was breathtaking. • We also visited Carlsten Fortress, a 17th-century fortress named for King Carl X Gustav of Sweden2. The fortress dominates the landscape and offers ocean views at every turn. It’s also home to Strandverket Art Museum, which showcases mainly photography and sculpture1. • Marstrand is not just about history. It’s also known as the sailing capital of Sweden1, hosting world-class sailing events3. In fact, it’s considered the only natural sailing arena in the world. • Join us as we share our experiences from this unforgettable day trip. From exploring the tiny alleys and nooks of Marstrand to learning about its fascinating past, it was truly a day to remember. • Don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe for more family adventure videos! • #Marstrand #FamilyTrip #Sweden #DayTrip #Gothenburg #FerryRide #SeaSide #CarlstenFortress #SailingCapital
