Decision Tree Math

This video answer two questions: • 1) How do decision trees determine where to split? • 2) How are the predictions calculated for each leaf? • I walk through a very small example on how decision trees determine where to make splits and how to calculate the final predictions. It should be obvious that a computer is needed in the real world due to the amount of calculations required however understanding the math helps identify issues with trees and when they should and shouldn't be used. • I also discuss briefly at the end of the video that other metrics such as median and mode could be used for calculating a leaf prediction. Probability spaces and measure theory will be discussed on greater depth in a future video. • • Website: • https://www.FancyQuantNation.com • Support: • https://ko-fi.com/fancyquant • Quant t-shirts, mugs, and hoodies: • https://www.teespring.com/stores/fanc... • Connect with me: • / dimitri-bianco • / dimitribianco
