Music video created by M. Esa in November 2006 using the famous song Kinder by Bettina Wegner, one of former East Germany's most critical and acclaimed singers. On the surface, the song is directed at kids, but it is also a song for adults. Wegner laments what people may not do to kids and at the end she criticizes spineless people (adults) who don't dare say their minds and stand up for their rights, but instead they follow what authoritarian systems tell them to do. I heard this song for the first time while I was studying German in Karlsruhe, Germany. 15 years later, I decided to prepare a lesson plan about the song for German teachers.
