Bupropion, Mirtazodone, Nefazodone, Trazodone, Vortioxetine, Vilazodone are agents included in Atypical antidepressants. they have different mechanisms because of which they are separated from other agents. Bupropion is a weak dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors. It is use for treating depression, cravings, nicotine withdrawals. Adverse effects include dry mouth, sweating, nervousness, tremor, seizure, sexual dysfunction. they have low drug drug interactions and inhibit CYP2D6. Avoid in patients with Risk of seizure and bulimia. Mirtazapine is antagonist of alpha 2 presynaptic receptor. It has sedating activity and can cause weight gain and increase in appetite. Nefazodone and Trazodone are postsynaptic blocker of serotonin 5-HT2a, weak inhibitor of serotonin inhibitor, and blocker of alpha-1. Adverse effects are priapism, hepatotoxcity, orthostasis, dizziness and sedation. Vilazodone is partial agonist of serotonin, and inhibitor of serotonin reuptake. It can cause discontinuation syndrome and adverse effects are that of SSRIs.
