Tabuh Petegak Bebarongan Uyang Uyang is the final track on Insitu Recordings' release of the album Nada Hidup (Notes of Life). This album is the first full-length album featuring I Wayan Arik Wirawan (Arik) and his innovative Gamelan Pesel (est. 2016). Combining elements of selonding and semar pegulingan, Arik’s unique iron-keyed instruments give the ensemble a distinct timbre. Pesel, literally to mix or mash together (Balinese), reflects how the ensemble was developed by piecing together instruments from numerous gamelan smiths (pande) over time. It also honors the ensemble’s origins—Pe[gulingan] sel[onding].
