006 Vanlife VLOG - Heating the van on cooler nights - Living in a stealth camper van • Testing a terracotta pot heater, based on tea lights and a loaf tin. This heater adds just a couple of degrees to the overall temperature of the van but provides a close heat source that is comforting, like being sat round a camp fire, the camp fire isn't going to heat up the outside but it does provide a source of heat and you adjust how far you sit from it based on how hot it is. Without the pots the candle heat rises and warms up the headlining (ceiling) of my van, I am happy with it. Part-time van dweller until 2015 when I will full-time around the coast of Britain. • Tea lights lasted just over four hours and heater provided a temperature of 72 degrees inside the van on a mild UK autumn evening. My own body heat adds to the temperature in the van as well so hard to tell the full impact.
