This depiction of the Priests of Dagon dancing appears in the 3rd act of Saint-Saens' opera Samson et Delila . Set in melodic minor it evokes images of debauchery from iron age Mesopotamia. Sounds like they had a pretty good time. • It lends itself well to a quintet setting even without the tympani.
