Bachmann have just announced a re-tooling of their V2, an un-remarkable old steam train from around World War 2. But, is it better than Love Island? • N-Gauge model railway locomotive. • Consider becoming a member of this channel by hitting the JOIN button to get access to perks: / @locomotionmotion • Check out my exclusive range of Train spotting Model Railway Books: https://www.amazon.co.uk/~/e/B0C8PLF7XS • Share a coffee : https://www.buymeacoffee.com/Locomoti... • #modeltrains #modelrailways • The V2 Class locomotives were real stars for the LNER, famously dubbed ‘the engines that won the war’ because of their big role in WWII. The first one, called ‘Green Arrow,’ started rolling in 1936, designed for express goods services. They made 184 of these, even during the war. With a unique 2-6-2 wheel setup, different from the usual 4-6-0, these trains were great for both passenger and freight across the LNER network. • Graham Farish first made N scale models of the V2 back in 2004, right after Bachmann took over. But with so many advances in model trains over the years, that old model’s outdated. So, for 2024, they’ve revamped it completely, using the latest research from their OO scale models introduced a few years ago. • The new model has a super detailed, injection-molded bodyshell with separate parts like the smokebox. It’s got individual metal handrails and buffers, and there are three versions of the tender, each with detailed features like water scoops and metal coal loads. Inside, the cab is fully decorated, complete with controls and seats. • They’ve also added options for different cylinder setups and smokebox doors, and you can have nameplates on the sides or front, like on ‘Green Arrow.’ • Mechanically, it's powered by a coreless motor with a flywheel, sitting in a diecast metal chassis. It picks up power from all the wheels, and the tender has a Next18 DCC decoder socket with a speaker. There’s also a sound version available, using a Zimo sound decoder.
