In this video we’ll be comparing the performance metrics of the Shelby GT500 and the Shelby GT350R. The GT500 and the GT350R are the big brother and little brother within the ford performance car lineup. The GT500 and the GT350R are two amazing Shelby’s and have blistering performance on the track and on the drag strip. • The Shelby GT500 was recently tested by motor trend and all of the performance metrics are now available. As many predicted the Shelby GT500 is an absolute monster of a car in all categories. The predator engine in the Shelby gt500 produces an enormous 760 horsepower and 625 foot pounds of torque and its mated to the DCT transmission. The Shelby GT500 also has the available carbon fiber track package and we were shocked on how much of a difference the package makes. I guess the price tag of $18,500 is worth it for the carbon fiber track package for the Shelby GT500. You’ll see that in many categories that the Shelby GT500 with the carbon track package is able to achieve much better performance. • • The Shelby GT350R has been out for several years now but that doesn’t mean it’s a lesser car. Its unique voodoo flat plane crank engine makes an unbelievable sound and provides a unique experience. The Shelby GT350R is also different from the GT500 in the transmission department. The GT350R has a 6 speed manual transmission which many people love and say add onto the experience. The GT350R also has an advantage over the GT500 in the weight department being almost 300 pounds less than the GT500. It provides an advantage on the track as the GT350R is faster around a track then the non track package GT500. • Overall the Shelby GT500 and the GT350R are amazing cars in the Ford Performance lineup. They have elevated the Mustang into the sport car discussion were previously the GT350 and GT500 were straight line performers. Im glad to see that Ford is building cars in the GT350 and GT500 that people are asking for, cars that offer a driving experience and don’t follow the pack.
