He portrayed a bus driver who was as lecherous as he was hilarious. He became such a popular character that casting directors had trouble separating the actor from him. They’d cast him in even saucier roles on stage and in film that rarely did well. He had periods of success followed by long droughts of work. • Bob was in debt and struggling. Not being able to find fulfilling roles was too much. He fell hard from the heights of fame and ended up permanently damaged. His depression and mental health issues caused him to leave his family for days. He was fortunately found by the police in time before he was hurt. Bob spoke about how deeply the experience affected him. It seemed like there was no escape from the turmoil in his mind. • New projects in the pipeline had him ending that period on a positive note. He hoped they’d provide the fulfillment he was searching for. Everything went wrong when they didn’t. He was once again found just in time before the worst happened. His wife took them away to help him heal. He stayed alive, but the once lively man became a recluse.
