Update: This is not a zener diode - its a 1N4148. It does reverse bias at just 400 mv and sends a pulse. See Lidmotor's video • Energy Detector • Difference between energy in air and ground makes this little charger work. It hlps us understand how the LS crossover circuit may be working to light an LED and charge a battery without a power source.
