He has a complex genetic disorder called Connexin 26 disorder which resulted in severe and profound hearing loss. If each birth parent has a flawed copy of the GJB2/Connexin 26 gene, the baby may be born with a hearing loss. The hearing loss occurs because the mutation is suspected of disrupting potassium flow in the inner ear. • • Note: This video was not made to be persuasive but rather to highlight Eric's early life. The song titled Fix You is not implying that little Eric was broken at birth. The song was chosen for it's tempo and instruments.
