It is a major pilgrimage site for Muslims, especially those who perform the Hajj. • Features • The mosque includes the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad, which is located in the Green Dome in the southeast corner of the mosque. The mosque also contains Riaz ul Jannah, a sacred piece of land. • History • The Prophet Muhammad built the mosque in 622 AD on land that was previously used as a burial ground. The mosque was expanded and decorated by subsequent Islamic rulers.
