When getting Botox they inject it with a needle at which the injection site can become severely infected and causing boils that can be very painful. Patients have reported that they will have tiny red dots on their skin years after Botox. We can clearly see that, that is from the needle being injected in which it causes a pin prick scar. What about the bigger scars that Botox can cause? Those are the ones you should be concerned about. They are called keloid scars. These scars can be very red to pink and may even vary to the color of your skin. Basically it is a type of lesion scar that can appear glossy or rubbery. You can have keloid scarring from different childhood diseases or even childhood vaccines which would be safe to say that if you can get a keloid scar from a vaccine then you most certainly can from a Botox injection. • When getting Botox it may not seem like much of a chance for you to have that specific side effect because keloid scars normally occur between the ages of 10 to maybe late 20’s. Normally people are older when they decide they want Botox but don’t be fooled it is still a possibility that you could indeed still get a keloid scar. Even if we rule out keloid scarring there are other scars you may receive when getting Botox. When getting a Botox injection, even if everything is sterile and clean and you know that the needle is sterile and new, there is still a chance that it could result in infection and in turn leave you with some pretty nasty scarring. Often time’s boils can happen upon the face after a Botox injection and they can be very painful. These boils have to be drained and once they are you may still have a time fighting the infection caused by the injection of the Botox. • Normally people who are aged over 60 have the most problems with boils occurring after Botox that in turn can cause scarring. It is a very rare effect for people under that age to get boils from Botox that cause scarring but it doesn’t mean that other things after Botox won’t cause scarring. Another interesting statistic is that most of the time the boils that cause the scarring only happen the first time. Maybe that is because people don’t usually go back after something like that occurs after Botox. Over the years it hasn’t seemed to improve or get worse so it is just kind of at a stable rate. • Scars can be very embarrassing especially for someone wanting to improve their image with Botox but the scary fact is that it does and can occur when getting Botox injected. I wanted to give you a little warning to consider when thinking about Botox injections.
