Day 1 of my 9 days West Highland Way adventure in Scotland. • After a short train ride from Glasgow I started my hike in Milngavie (pronounced Mill-guy ...) at 10:30am. • I arrived at my wild campsite near Drymen after 6 hours and 20.5km (moving time 4.5 hours). • Checkout my playlist for all my WHW videos: • I will upload the next days' videos probably on a weekly basis, maybe even 2 videos per week, let's see... • • West Highland Way • Let me know in the comments where the quote I am speed is from ;-) • Please feel free to ask any question in the comments below. • My channel is small, so I am still able to answer ALL questions :-) • The gas cartridge story (end of th video): • The cartridge I had bought in Milngavie didn't work with my stove. • I know, I should have tested it in Milngavie ( always test your gear !!!). • I just didn't expect that it would NOT work. • The supermarket in Milngavie only had 2 types of gas cartridges: • The campinggaz and a second brand I don't remember. • That second brand was clearly a piercing cartridge. • And the campinggaz to me looked like a normal screw cartridge. • I just didn't expect that the supermarket was selling TWO piercing cartridge brands and NO screw cartridge. • I really wonder how many people got it wrong. Or just me? • Fortunately the supermarket in Drymen was open until 8pm on a sunday and had the highlander screw cartridge. • The guys in the supermarket even let me try it out before I bought it, so that was very nice. • Highlander is a much more appropriate name anyway... ;-) • I bought a big cartridge in order to not run into a it is empty situation. • A small cartridge would have done the job for 9 days probably. • I left my cartridge at my day 9 campsite and it still felt pretty full at that time. • But you never know... I would always buy a big cartridge again, in order to be safe. • • ---------- • Some links: • ---------- • The app/map I used on my phone: • https://www.outdooractive.com/en/rout... • It was always nice to check how many more km I had to walk and if it was going up or down... • My Strava: • I tracked all days with my Garmin watch, so you can see in detail where I went, how fast I was, my heartrate and so on... • / strava • / strava • (yes I even tracked that hike to Drymen to buy a new gas cartridge, haha...) • Good starting point if you need more information about the West Highland Way: • https://www.westhighlandway.org/ • • ---------- • Credits: • ---------- • No hiking partner this time (sad...). • Also no music in the video. • So the only credit goes to myself: • Photos, videos, editing, production, • hiking, camping, talking, sniffing and other activities: • MATTHIAS GRALLERT • #westhighlandway #scotland
