Excerpt from a peal of Stedman Caters, taken on 16 June 2017. The audio recording is used with kind permission of John Pladdys. • The bells here were six in number until 1892, when Taylors hung them in a new frame, recast two (the present 6th and 8th), and added two trebles. Three bells - the current 7th, 9th and tenor - date from the 1600s, cast by the Watts foundry. In 2014, the frame was replaced, and the bells were augmented to ten, Taylors once again carrying out this work. They are a good, chunky old sound, but are rather quiet in the ringing chamber. • The church, with its 170 foot (52m) spire, is a magnificent building and well worth visiting. Further information on the bells and church - including a recording of these from outside - can be found on the church website: https://www.stmaryhighamferrers.org/b... • Tenor 22–1–0 in E♭ • https://bb.ringingworld.co.uk/view.ph...
