Here's how you RE-USE old POTTING SOIL... • 1️⃣Sift to get rid of roots, large mulch pieces etc • 2️⃣Adding 50% fresh potting mix to it • 3️⃣ My recipe for potting mix is 1 gallon Coco Coir, 1 gallon compost, 1 gallon perlite+vermiculite • 4️⃣Mix 2 handfuls of slow release fertilizer • 5️⃣Optional (but highly recommended) - a cup or 2 of worm castings🪱 • ⚠️AND MY TOP SECRET INGREDIENT: A small amount of TOP SOIL from my garden. • ⁉️WHY? Did you know that there are 17 nutrients that are essential for a plants growth? And that if even one of them is absent, your plant won't grow well. I have always been obsessing about nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, and admittedly those are needed in larger quantities. But the micronutrients are as essential, just in small amounts. And most bagged soils do not contain the range of nutrients the plant needs. Just something to be aware of, as you fill your raised beds with bagged soil. An easy fix is to mix in some of your naturally occurring topsoil, to bring in those micronutrients. • ⁉️ Do you make your own seed starting and potting mixes? What do you add? • #pottingmixrecipe • #greenlove • #livegreenandloveyourgreens
