Award-Winning documentary film written, directed, and produced by Donald L. Vasicek and Olympus Films +, LLC. • This film is an examination of an open wound in the souls of the Arapaho and Cheyenne people as told from their perspective. On November 29, 1864, 750 3rd (Bloodless Third) Colorado Cavalry and New Mexico troops composed of bartenders, out of work laborers and a combination of alcoholics and drunks, savagely slaughtered over 163 (see Silas Soule’s notes) peace-seeking Cheyenne and Arapaho children, women, and tribal elders under its protection, while the tribal warriors were out in a hunting party. Rape, mutilations, and burning of the bodies took place while they were gone. The film chronicles that horrific 19th century event and its never-ending effect on the 21st century struggle for respectful co-existence between white and indigenous plains cultures. • “The Sand Creek Massacre” Awards: • Videographers Award of Excellence • Best Short Film – Indie Fest Film Festival • Best Documentary Film – The American Indian Film Festival • Best Native American Documentary Film – Trail Dance Film Festival • Golden Drover Award • Archived in Smithsonian Libraries • “The Sand Creek Massacre” Distributor • Films Media Group • https://films.com/ecTitleDetail.aspx?...
