Fourth-year MEng Civil Engineering students and our MSc Civil Engineering students tackle our unique Integrated Design Project, where they work in project teams on the design of a major civil engineering project, supervised by practising engineers. • The IDP runs from September to June, and gives our students the chance to work on real projects in an environment similar to that of an engineering design practice. The structure and sequence of the project is mapped to RIBA and ACE work stages to familiarise students with design terminology used in industry. • Students meet regularly with a client team (Senior Professional Engineers), to present and discuss their design, and each student is matched with a personal Engineering Design Mentor as they take on individual responsibility for developing a different but integrated part of the technical design. • Our students are supported in their learning through a series of workshops on topics and skills useful in their projects and future careers, and have access to a wide range of academic and industrial expertise during their design project. • Read more about this project on our website: http://www.cege.ucl.ac.uk/teaching/un... • If you'd like more information on the Integrated Design Project or are interested in being one of our mentors, contact James Ford, Teaching Fellow in CEGE: http://iris.ucl.ac.uk/iris/browse/pro...
