I loved making this video on what is a really unique history for a watch brand. Lip has an incredible story going back to the 1800s, with its move into the industrial era with Ernest Lipmann and the later one of a kind Fred Lip. We cover this manufacture of watches during the Great War and World War II, their foray into electric watches, the nautic ski, dauphine and chronographs that share dials with the Rolex Daytona. We also cover the “Lip Affaire” of the 1970s with industrial strike action. Of particular interest is the introduction of designers such as Rudi Meyer, Michel Boyer, and especially Roger Tallon with the iconic Mach 2000. #lipwatches #frenchwatch #frenchwatches • Critical sources for this video were: • Lip Des Heures a Conter • Electrification of the wrist watch • Watch - History of the Modern Wristwatch • Retro Watches • Lip Museum website • Nick Downes articles • Other sources are referenced throughout the video • Should you be enjoying the content and would like to support the channel - why not considering buying me a coffee at https://www.buymeacoffee.com/Illumina...
